Rural Farm High-Speed Internet
200-Acre Farm • 3,600% Speed Increase • Mesh WiFi
A field-built Starlink deployment for a 200-acre working farm, including custom mounting, protected outdoor WiFi extension, and coverage planned around daily operations instead of a single farmhouse install.
Working Farm Owner • 200-Acre Agricultural Property • Zero Prior Internet
The Scenario
The farm had no practical broadband option and was trying to operate on legacy satellite service that was too slow and too latent for business use. The owner needed reliable connectivity for management software, banking, supplier calls, and general operations across more than one structure.
Challenge Identified
The property scale made this more than a simple Starlink activation. There were long distances between buildings, exposed outdoor mounting conditions, and a tree line that limited clean sky visibility. Any system also needed protection from lightning and weather because the cable paths were partially exposed.
Solution Design
We selected a custom pole mount to clear the line of sight, then extended usable service from the main connection point to the workshop and barn with weather-rated outdoor access points and supporting infrastructure. Surge protection was added on the exposed Ethernet paths to reduce risk in an agricultural environment.
Deliverables
Quantified Improvement
| Metric | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Download Speed | 5 Mbps satellite | 180 Mbps Starlink |
| Latency | 800 ms | 35 ms |
| Building Coverage | Main house only (barely) | House + workshop + barn |
| Video Calls | Impossible | Reliable HD conferencing |
Methodology Applied
Every deployment follows the same four-phase field process so the finished system reflects planning and documentation, not on-site improvisation.
Terrain & RF Survey
The property walk focused on sky visibility, practical mounting locations, and which buildings needed connectivity for actual farm operations. Tree lines, exposure, and power behavior were documented before the mount design and outdoor network path were finalized.
Architecture Design
The system was designed around a custom pole mount for clean sky access, then extended outward with weather-rated access points and protected cable paths. Surge protection was specified early because agricultural properties expose outdoor infrastructure to higher environmental risk than a typical suburban install.
Precision Deployment
The field work was split between positioning and fabricating the mount, bringing Starlink online, and extending coverage to the workshop and barn with outdoor-rated hardware. Exterior runs were protected and finished as permanent infrastructure rather than temporary utility cabling.
Sovereignty Transfer
Performance was documented against the prior service, and the client received credentials, equipment records, and maintenance notes, including inspection guidance for the surge protection on exposed runs.
Measurable Results
The farm moved from unusable legacy service to a stable 180 Mbps class connection with dramatically lower latency. Management tasks, payments, and supplier calls can now be handled from the property, and the network reaches the buildings where the work actually happens.

“After years of terrible internet, Starlink has been life-changing. The installation team was professional, explained everything, and had us up and running in a few hours. Now I can run my farm business from anywhere on the property.”
